We visited the activity site for the ‘Green Planner’ environmental action (Burista) club. Green Planner started in 2022 while gathering participation from volunteers who have completed environmental training. The term “Burista” means “Let’s dispose of waste properly,” aiming to promote environmental protection and resource circulation.

In this program, the volunteers focus on guiding residents toward proper recycling and waste-separation practices, encouraging their participation in resource circulation and improving environmental awareness within the community. Currently, 13 volunteers are actively participating in Bupyeong-gu.
These volunteers are trained experts who have completed specialized education in climate change, carbon neutrality, upcycling practices, and waste-separation methods, earning their certification for environmental citizenship.
Green Planner Buristas provide practical environmental guidance to residents through various activities. They conduct waste-separation education at apartment complexes, local events, subway stations, and youth volunteer schools, also leading environmental campaigns to promote resource-circulation practices.
Additionally, they contribute to creating a sustainable local community through education and networking activities aimed at increasing the recycling rate for paper cartons.
On March 8, the group carried out a promotional campaign near Gulpocheon Station Intersection under the slogan “Thinking about the Environment in Daily Life.” During the event, volunteers distributed reusable shopping bags and natural scrubbers to encourage residents’ interest and participation in resource circulation.
Kim Jung-soon, a Green Planner (Burista) volunteer from Cheongcheon 1-dong, recalled, “I remember a student saying, ‘My mom is already doing a great job’ during a waste-separation lesson at an elementary school.” She added, “This activity has also changed my own lifestyle to practice resource-circulation actively.”
She further suggested, “I hope Bupyeong-gu will have more ‘Clean Houses’ that go beyond simple waste-collection stations, providing hygienic and pleasant environments.”
