On May 8, Bupyeong District appointed 10 community activists for 2025 in the new district office to begin activities to help support the community. They will work in community facilities and case management until November to enable the stable operation of community projects.

Community activists facilitate communication among residents and provide administrative and emotional support to ensure public projects run smoothly. In addition to practical tasks such as interviews, performance reports, accounting, and networking, they also organize resident programs to foster togetherness in the community.
Cho Sung-Ha (37, craftsman), newly appointed, joined the team based on her experience as a lifestyle culture mediator at the Incheon Cultural Foundation. Her strength lies in her ability to provide practical assistance in work such as accounting and document preparation, which are particularly difficult for elderly residents.
“It seems that there are not enough community facilities for middle-aged people compared to the elderly and young people. I want to fill the gap when they need help,” she said. “I also want to breathe new life into inactive communities.” She wants to encourage more young people to participate actively in the community.
Kim Ji-Young (59) has been a community activist for three years. She regularly visits 14 to 15 villages in Bupyeong District, leading various activities to encourage resident participation. She has taken her part in taking care of the elderly and preventing instances where they suffer lonely deaths.
“The relationships formed through communication with neighbors are of much comfort to the desolate elderly. It goes beyond simple volunteer work; I feel this is why we live together,” she said. “I have gained a deeper understanding of the history and people of Bupyeong. I will also do my best to raise awareness in Bupyeong this year.”
