It was the first test field of solar evaporation process. In 1908, a Japanese named Nikaohku Ohkura imported the technique of solar evaporation process from China and designated the area of 1 jungbo (approximately 9917.4m²) as the first test place of solar evaporation process. In 1912, its expansion to 88 jungbo significantly affected the development of Incheon's economy and the residential living. However, this area was closed due to the reclamation work and the wave of industrialization that began in 1969.
